Fit life hacks inside, friend
My back was screaming in that conference room chair
friend!
Fit life hacks inside!
And I'm already cringing at myself for writing that.
But last Tuesday something happened that made me realize I've been thinking about this all wrong.
I was in a work meeting, sitting in that awful conference room chair for two hours straight, when my back started screaming at me. So I did something completely unhinged: I started doing tiny hip circles while pretending to be deeply engaged in the quarterly budget discussion.
Nobody noticed because everyone was staring at spreadsheets, but I felt instantly better. Not because hip circles are some magical exercise, but because I stopped waiting for permission to move my body.
Here's what I realized: We've been brainwashed into thinking fitness has to be scheduled.
Like movement needs an appointment. Like your body has to wait until you're wearing the right clothes and have blocked out exactly 45 minutes.
That's actually insane when you think about it.
Your body is with you 24/7.
It doesn't clock out at 5 PM and wait patiently until your next official workout.
It's constantly sending you signals -
tight shoulders,
stiff neck,
restless legs
and we just... ignore them until we can "properly" address them later.
But what if we started treating our body like that friend who's always texting you? Instead of leaving them on read for hours, what if we just responded in real time?
Shoulders tense during a meeting? Roll them back discretely. Legs cramping from your desk chair?
Stand up to "get water" and stretch.
Feeling sluggish at 3 PM? Do calf raises while standing at the printer like a person who's discovered a secret.
The hack isn't finding more time. It's stopping the ridiculous idea that movement needs permission.
Wednesday I'm sharing the 5 most embarrassing places I've done micro-workouts and why they worked better than any gym session I've ever had.
What's one signal your body's been sending you that you've been ignoring?
Your body doesn't need an appointment,
Kai
P.S. Yes, I did hip circles during a client meeting. Peak working-from-home energy right there.
