I'm on my period (I can't work out)
I gave my period way too much power over my consistency.
friend!
I'm on my period (I can't work out)
I used to think this every single month.
Day one would hit and I'd write off my entire wellness routine for the next 5-7 days.
My body hurt. My energy was gone. And I convinced myself I'd "get back on track" when it was over.
Spoiler alert: I never did.
I'd lose momentum every month. Start over every month. Feel guilty every month.
Until I figured out the real problem, friend.
I wasn't failing because I lacked willpower.
I was failing because I was trying to force the same routine on a body that needed something completely different.
So I created a 5-minute period routine that keeps me consistent without feeling impossible:
Step 1: Set timer for 2 minutes. Walk around your house or do gentle stretches. Movement, not intensity.
Step 2: Drink one full glass of water. Add lemon if you want. Dehydration makes everything worse.
Step 3: Take 10 deep breaths with a heating pad or hot water bottle. Release tension in your shoulders and jaw.
Step 4: Write down one thing you're grateful for. Periods mess with mood. Gratitude helps reset.
Step 5: Pick your gentlest self-care for tonight. Bath, early bed, or ordering takeout instead of cooking.
Why this works when intense workouts don't:
Your brain craves routine during hormonal chaos. These steps give structure without pressure. Each action signals you're caring for yourself. The 5-minute limit prevents overwhelm while building momentum.
The result? I went from losing momentum 12 times per year to maintaining habits through every cycle.
No more monthly restarts. No more guilt spirals. No more all-or-nothing thinking.
Customize it:
Morning person: Do this right after waking up
Working mom: Fit it during lunch break
Night owl: Use as wind-down before bed
Traveling: Adapt to hotel room stretches
Some months you'll nail all five steps. Other months you'll manage two.
Both count as wins.
Your period doesn't have to pause your progress.
It just needs a different approach.

P.S. This 5-minute routine has helped hundreds of women maintain consistency through their cycles. The key isn't doing more during your period. It's doing different.
