The 20-minute lie everyone believes
I literally laughed out loud
Hey gorgeous,
Last Sunday, I was scrolling Tiktok (judge me later) and saw another fitness influencer posting about her "quick 20-minute morning routine."
Twenty. Minutes friend!.
I literally laughed out loud because my kid gives me about 3 minutes before he's climbing on my back asking for snacks.
But here's what made me stop scrolling and start fuming...
The Misconception: We've all bought into this massive lie that if your workout isn't at least 20 minutes, it "doesn't count."
Like your body has some internal timer that only starts benefiting you after the 20-minute mark.
BS.
This belief is exactly what's keeping you stuck in the "I don't have time" cycle. You're waiting for those magical 20+ minutes that rarely show up in mom life.
Here's what nobody tells you: Your muscles don't wear tiny watches.
Two minutes of squats while your coffee/tea brews? Your glutes are working. Ninety seconds of wall push-ups during dinner? Your arms are getting stronger. Three minutes of stretching before bed? Your back is thanking you.
Micro-workouts create macro-results. Those "tiny" movement moments aren't consolation prizes – they're the actual prize.
Your body responds to stimulus, not stopwatches.
A 2-minute burst of movement triggers the same muscle activation, blood flow, and endorphin release as minute 22 of a longer workout.
Wednesday, I'm dropping my "2-Minute Power Moves" – five ridiculously effective sequences you can do in the time it takes to microwave leftovers.
No more waiting for the perfect 20-minute window. No more feeling guilty about "short" workouts.
Have you been holding yourself hostage to the 20-minute rule? Hit reply and confess – I promise I won't judge (because I've been there too).
You're stronger than your schedule,
—Kai 💛
P.S. That fitness influencer's "quick" 20-minute routine? It included a 5-minute warm-up. Girl, I can get a full-body workout done in 5 minutes. Watch me prove it Wednesday.
